Today, 28th June 2006 I had an email from Johan which I reproduce below.

The notice is a bit short, but hopefully he will get enough people...

Hi! Can you please forward this mail to people in and around Edinburgh?

Thanks Johan

EXTRAS WANTED FOR SHORT FILM - WE NEED 100 PEOPLE TO BE NUDE FOREST SPIRITS

I hope that all of you that are interested have time on Sunday the 2nd of July 1.30pm.

The whole thing will take approximately two hours (but probably only one)

The shooting will take place in the sculpture court in the main building of ECA (Edinburgh college of Art), at Lauriston Place, near Tollcross.
(we will decorate the floor into forest ground and shoot everything straight from above)

There will be mud available to cover up tattoos.

So spread the word and try to bring all of your friends to make this scene a truly epic ending of the film!

There will be an arranged screening of the final film where you also will be given copies of the film.

For further requests call me (Johan): 0778-8857893 or email me: agishegre@gmail.com

The film is a graduation film for the Edinburgh College of Art.

You will be needed for maximum two hours one day.

The scene is going to be similar to Spencer Tunick's art work but the bodies will be forest sprits slowly dragging the main character down into the earth.

Tell your friends!

The synopsis:

Have you ever been walking in a still winter forest? The trees stand all bare in the cold grey landscape. There's no snow but the air bites the inside of your nostrils. It seems like time is standing absolutely still. Then suddenly you get a weird feeling manifesting itself in the back of your neck; like dripping ice slowly pouring down your spine. All hairs on your body standing straight out. It feels like you're not supposed to be here. That the forest itself is alive, and you are NOT a part of this wilderness. It is fascinating how you can feel that feeling instantly; what was first beautiful nature suddenly seems to have something darker growling and moving underneath. As if you were standing there with your bare feet in the wet cold leaves, and suddenly you feel warm pulsating skin underneath your frozen toes. Warm skin gradually warming up and tickling your feet. A mother and the daughter Maria are going in a car in the middle of a winter waste land, far far away from the civilization. The car crashes and the mother dies. When the daughter wakes up she panics and runs deep into the forest. She is hurt and cold alone with no connection to civilization. She's shocked and traumatized but still tries her best to survive and get out of this situation. Desperately she wanders about trying to find back to the main road. The days go by and she gets weaker and weaker. As she is slowly dying she starts to hallucinate. Her hallucinations turn more and more surreal and beautiful. The nature starts breathing and under the thin soil she finds warm comforting pulsating skin. Happiness spreads in her face. Playfully she's jumping around welcoming the spring and the green. It is as the mother herself is there under the forest protecting and warming her. She falls asleep with a smile. This 20 min experimental piece is loosely inspired by The Matchstick Girl by Hans Christian Andersen. Just like in the children story this film starts out in a cold and horrible reality and then slowly turns into something really beautiful and happy. The style will be something like a surreal Tarkovsky film, mixed with Transylvanian children choir music and the latest noise drone music. It will be still and beautiful.
